THURSDAY EVENING DINNER SALON: Going Away Party for Suzi!

October 19th, 2017 with SUZI BANKS BAUM

Join us for an evening of Armenian inspired sweets by Nancy Lee at Elixir. This is a final fundraiser for my 2017 New Illuminations residency in Gyumri, Armenia. There will be a raffle for two stunning ready to hang photographs by Yulia Grigoryants and Knar Babayan and a special gift fromDana Walrath. If you are a current donor to the 2017 campaign, your ticket is $25. If you are a new donor for 2017, your ticket is $50. Your donation gives you one chance in the raffle. REGENERATION OF PERENNIAL FORESTS IN THE NORTHEAST

Saturday April 29th, 2:00pm - 4:00pm with EMERSON MARTIN

A talk by Emerson Martin in honor of Arbor Day.
Emerson Martin, a horticulturalist, explores the history of New England forests in the context of human activity. He will give the listener the tools to "read" the forested environment. The talk will conclude with "forests of the future" the importance of designing forested landscapes with human intent and use.

THREE-PART WORKSHOP: FERMENTED ELIXIR SERIES

Mondays Evenings: March 13th, 20th, 27th, 2017 with TREVOR RING

Join us for this fermented beverage making series! These classes will give you the basic understanding of how to harvest and use wild yeast to your advantage. Yeast is all around us, and here you will learn how to harvest it with creativity and confidence!

The series will take place on three consecutive Mondays at ELIXIR:

- Introduction to Wild Winemaking, Monday 3/13

- Kombucha & Vinegar, 3/20

- Water Kefir, Kvass & Natural Soda, 3/27

Price of the class includes tea and snacks, $30/class or $75 for all three when preregistered

Trevor Ring is a Fermentation Culturalist and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach who has taught fermentation classes around the Pioneer Valley for over two years. Learning directly from the well-konwn Fermentation Revivalist, Sandor Katz (author of Wild Fermentation & The Art of Fermentation), and assisting him with a college course in Vermont, Trevor presents a vast wealth of knowledge and experience on the subject. He also creates products for Nourish Wellness Cafe in Northampton under the name Tringo Cultures,and assists with miso production for South River Miso Company in Conway.

Join us for dinner followed by a two-part talk about the diverse international experiences that led Eve to found the Berkshire Center for Justice; the local organization recognized as one of only 23 nonprofit, sliding scale law firms in the country. After which she will speak to the sense of comfort one achieves after writing Will, Power of Attorney and Medical Proxy documents, and what every parent should know who has a child who just turned 18.

Raun K. Kaufman is the author of the acclaimed book, Autism Breakthrough: The Groundbreaking Method That Has Helped Families All Over The World - and the Director of Global Education and former CEO of the Autism Treatment Center of America®. In his work with families, children, and professionals from around the world, he brings a distinctive qualification to the realm of autism treatment—his own personal history. As a child, Mr. Kaufman was diagnosed with severe autism and recommended for lifelong institutionalization. Instead, his parents developed The Son-Rise Program®, which enabled their son to complete revere from his autism. Now an international speaker, author, teacher, and graduate of the Ivy League’s Brown University with a degree in Biomedical Ethics, Mr. Kaufman bears no traces of his former condition (and is the subject of a best-selling book and NBC television movie). He has been interviewed by media such as National Public Radio, BBC Television, Fox News Channel, The London Telegraph, and People Magazine. He awarded “Best Presenter”at the AutismOne National Conference, given to the winner of a nationwide survey. 

In his talk, Raun will recount his own incredible story, uncover what we can learn from children with autism about our own relationships (and how to create, improve and deepen them), and provide some outside-the-box techniques for overcoming our own life challenges.
